Small-Molecule Inhibition of MRGPRX2
Evommune
MRGPRX2 is a receptor tied to inflammation and itch in immune-driven diseases. This paper shows it on human mast cells and sensory neurons, and links it to the itch of atopic dermatitis.
The team built EVO756, a small molecule that blocks the receptor. It shut down that reaction in the lab, and in an early human trial an oral dose reduced the skin response the receptor sets off.
I worked in the wet lab on this project. I homogenized tissue samples, collected mast cells, and ran protein assays on them.
It was part of a longer stretch at Evommune, across a few preclinical projects on immune-modulating therapeutics. I ran biomarker analysis, helped develop assays, and trained new interns on the lab's workflows and data processing.
